30 before 30

Inspired by Dan Saffer, I decided it’s time to make my 30 before 30 list. Thirty things to do before I turn thirty. It’s not a list of impossible things, like going to the moon. There’s definitely enough time (well, 2 years isn’t too bad) – but some of the tasks may not be as menial. Especially veal stock. Anywhoo, here’s the 30 – time to start crossing.

  1. Experience the Spain countryside
  2. Travel across at least 3 countries in Asia (preferably with my mom/dad)
  3. See the Niagara Falls, from both sides
  4. Drive up the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to Seattle
  5. Spend a weekend in the Oregon wine country
  6. Eat at The French Laundry
  7. Learn to speak Spanish to an okay proficiency level
  8. Donate blood
  9. Find a place to volunteer on a regular basis
  10. Discover an amazing new band in the city
  11. Spend a day at a gorgeous beach – nothing but eating, playing, drinking, and enjoying the sunset
  12. Collect a really meaningful art piece
  13. Go fishing in the pacific northwest
  14. Learn to swim better
  15. Take a dance lesson
  16. Complete a 10 mile day-hike where the view from the top is breathtaking
  17. Grow an urban garden
  18. Party all night in New York till I see the sun rise
  19. Go see a ballet or opera
  20. Do a 50+ mile biking trip
  21. Brew a Flemish sour ale, only to make me appreciate the Duchesse de Burgogne even more
  22. Prepare an amazing 5+ course meal for two
  23. Teach someone to cook independently
  24. Design & launch a meaningful product or service that others will use
  25. Make a new friend
  26. Build a tangible piece of art
  27. Make veal stock from start
  28. Learn & practice yoga
  29. Open up my life and heart to someone
  30. Help a complete stranger for the good

So there we go. Not vastly unlike lists you’ve never seen. It’s all about starting to check it off. Pictures shall serve as proof.
